Please be aware of fraudsters contacting members unexpectedly via phone call pretending to be LMFCU card member security employees.
When a card fraud analyst initiates a call, they WILL NOT ask for any personal information.
When RETURNING a call to our card member security group, you will be asked to verify your identity.
You will NEVER be asked to provide a full social security number, full 16 digit card number, or log in credentials to your Online Banking.
A member recently reported the following encounter. A fraudster called stating they wanted to confirm a card transaction that had just been denied by the LMFCU card monitoring system. They had the member provide her full 16-digit card number. The member then received the legitimate LMFCU text asking to confirm if the transaction was authorized. THE FRAUDSTER TOLD THE MEMBER TO RESPOND TO THE TEXT MESSAGE THAT SHE HAD PERFORMED THE TRANSACTION (SHE HAD NOT!). They then asked her to provide her Online Banking login credentials. The fraudster ended the call and proceeded to perform additional internet card purchases.
If you receive a suspicious call stating to be from LMFCU and requesting confidential personal information:
DO NOT provide any information.
STOP all communication with the suspected imposter.
